How to use it without breaking it

Do not let the lead run out to its full length in one hard pull. Lock it first, then release the length you want. A sudden jerk at full extension is what damages the mechanism, and it is also how people get rope burn on their hands.

Keep it locked short near roads and in busy places. The extra reach is for open ground.

Honest limits
