Measure the neck, not the dog
Measure your dog’s neck before ordering rather than choosing by breed. Put a tape around the neck where the collar will sit, then allow two fingers of room underneath. A collar that can be pulled over the head is too loose, and that is how dogs get lost.
Check the fit again on puppies every few weeks. They outgrow a collar faster than most people expect.
What this is for
This is an everyday walking set rather than a training tool. If your dog pulls hard, a collar puts that force through the throat, while a harness spreads it across the chest instead. Our guide on how to stop a dog pulling on the lead covers the difference.
